We are Stronger Together
This Give!Guide season, Hacienda CDC and Wallace are partnering in support of our Rockwood community. Together, we recognize that health and wellness do not exist in their own sphere; rather, it is a combination of external factors such as access to housing, support, and resources, continuing education, and much more, that creates healthy individuals and healthy communities.
Our Rockwood Neighborhood
Located in Northwest Oregon, Rockwood is one of the most diverse communities within the entire state. The Rockwood neighborhood is an established area running from Northeast Glisan & 162nd up to East Burnside & 202nd. Recent surveys estimate that Rockwood’s community members come from over 40 different countries and that there are over 88 languages spoken. Because of its diversity, the Rockwood area has a wide array of culturally specific services, organizations, and community resources. Organizations like Hacienda CDC and Wallace, work hard to bring the voices of the Rockwood community front and. Both Hacienda CDC and Wallace, believe that the key to strengthening our Rockwood community, is a holistic approach that embraces all aspects of well-being: providing affordable health services and housing, economic resources and advancement, and educational opportunities.
About Hacienda CDC
Safe, affordable housing is one of the biggest needs in our region and Hacienda CDC is Oregon’s largest Latino-led, Latino-serving housing organization. A culturally specific organization, Hacienda CDC was formed over 30 years ago to provide necessary housing and supportive services in Northwestern Oregon. Since 1986, they have built 10 housing communities – and Hacienda’s newest housing complex, Rockwood Village, is located in the heart of the Rockwood neighborhood at SE 185th Avenue and SE Yamhill Street. Built with the community in mind, Rockwood Village offers 224 homes to low-income individuals and families and is integrated with nature and the local community. Recognizing that affordable housing opportunities are only one piece of the puzzle, Hacienda CDC also runs programs to support small businesses, homeownership, and services for youth and families. Today over 2,000 people live in their 10 affordable housing communities – and they continue to build more.
Wallace
Located less than 10 minutes away from Rockwood Village, Wallace’s clinics offer affordable and accessible medical, dental and behavioral health services. We are a full-service medical “home base” for individuals and families, with multicultural staff who partner fully with patients to improve their health. Our integrated, whole person approach unites our health services with a robust focus on addressing economic and social barriers that create health disparities. With initiatives and partnerships, we team up to focus on supporting our patients by bringing fresh produce to their tables, helping to address housing needs, providing ongoing educational support and resources, and much, much, more. Wallace believes that the most critical factors to good health—nutrition, housing, and more—exist outside the doctor’s office. That is why we are so proud of the way Wallace treats each patient as a whole person, and addresses these non-medical factors as essential parts of patient health.
Located in the heart of downtown Rockwood, La Villa is a Mexican restaurant that combines great service with a warm atmosphere and provides a space where one can enjoy distinctive cocktails, good company, and the finest Mexican food.
