At Wallace, we’re grateful every day for an incredible asset—our staff. But much of the time we go on with our daily work and forget to share that gratitude.
Our theme for National Health Center Week this year is “Lighting the Way”. Today we focus on the source of that light – the compassionate, dedicated people who serve our patients.
In every day terms, we might describe “light” as a wave-like stream of individual particles all traveling in the same direction. Our light at Wallace is like that, too. While each team member has a specific role, we have a common destination—the best possible state of health for each and every one of our patients.
Wallace’s light is made of welcoming and efficient reception staff, sensitive and fluent interpreters, highly-skilled lab techs, and multi-talented medical and dental assistants. Our insurance enrollers, navigators and referral specialists shine at connecting patients to key resources. Medical, dental and behavioral health care providers provide stellar whole person care. Nurses counsel and comfort. Our health information experts protect patient privacy, ensure accurate records and help us improve our services. Committed administrative staff keep the systems running that make it possible to open our doors for all who need us.
Like everyone else during this time of COVID-19, our team members have full lives, with many responsibilities and worries for themselves and their families. But they continue to show tremendous willingness to step in and help in new ways, ducking and rolling gracefully with daily changes, exercising their ingenuity, determined to beat this crisis and create a better future. They care for their patients, and they care for each other.
They are heroes, lighting the way. We thank them, and honor them.
